The County Government of Kisumu under the stewardship of H.E.Jack Ranguma signed MoUs with Govan Mbeki and Midvaal municipalities in South Africa. The MoUs seek for the establishment of a sister-city relationship between Kisumu County and the two municipalities with the purpose of exchanges and co-operation in the fields of local government especially in the areas of performance management, waste management, youth skills development and culture. Speaking during the signing of the MoUs in Kisumu, Governor Jack Ranguma said,’ these MoUs will go a long way in cementing relationships and strengthening friendships in turn promoting common interests and enhancing mutual understanding among Kisumu County and the two Municipalities in South Africa.’ Cllr. Bongani Baloyi, Executive Mayor of Midvaal municipality who was accompanied by a delegation from his municipality, stated that Kisumu is a strategic county of economic importance where development is compulsory due to its strategic advantage and urged the county’s leadership to have a long-term vision of strengthening the capacity of the County as an institution regardless of the day’s leadership. On the same note, Ms.Lindi Masina, Executive Mayor of Govan Mbeki municipality applauded PriceWaterhouseCooper for transforming Counties and municipalities through performance management and contracting. Kisumu County, the pioneer county in performance management in the Country, chose the two municipalities in South Africa to learn from best practices.
